Day 18: 23 March - Pool time in the desert

Today was a little difficult because the only  hostels in Phoenix were completely booked, and I of course had not booked in time (a habit that led me into a few situations!). Ping was in the same boat, so we booked a motel together to make it nice and cheap - there's always a solution!

Awesome desert views from the car..I love cacti!

After Lena very kindly took us to our motel in her car (the buses were not ideal here), we decided to head down to The W Hotel, a fancy hotel in Scottsdale with a pool that is open to the public. Considering the heat, this was a perfect idea.

On the way there we got an In 'n' Out burger for lunch - something that had been highly recommended and that Lena and I had not had before. It was by far the best fast food burger ever! They are renowned for their burgers and they bloody lived up to it!

Mmmm..had to take a photo!

We then spent the afternoon in the pool, or relaxing in the sun (pfft, not me!), then had a bit of a wander around the locals mall.

The best part was definitely meeting Chicago Cubs players, Anthony Rizzo and David Ross, at the pool. Lena was very star struck, being a Cubs fan and I was ballsy enough to go introduced myself to them, considering I was the Aussie who doesn't know a thing about baseball.

That night, Ping and I headed down to the mall to buy me a necessity for the next day - a Chicago Cubs hat. I was going to my first game!
