Day 21: 26 March - Next Stop, Austin!

Today was a transit day! I made my way by bus from Dallas to Austin and got into Austin at about 5.30pm.

Once I got settled, I got ready and headed down to the main party strip of Austin - 6th Street. I went to a place called The White Horse first, which came highly recommended by everyone that I have spoken to who has been to Austin. The White Horse is a dive-y bar that sells cheap beer and has amazing live country music. You could tell the locals who visit there frequently; these were the people on the dance floor, line dancing and doing the two-step. The people watching was incredible!

Only picture I took at the White Horse - obviously having too much fun to take pics!

After the White Horse, I walked down to the main strip, which was a good 15-20 minute walk away. It was very cold - Texas hadn't gotten over their winter just yet!

The main strip of 6th street was barricaded off at either end, so that it was like one big street party. All of the bars along the street had live music; mainly country music. This is slowly growing on me!

I stopped off at a couple of bars before stopping at The Blind Pig. There I got a couple of $3 beers and made friends with Andy, an investment banker from New York City. After The Blind Pig, we went next door to a "New York" style pizza shop. The pizza was very sub-par! I was assured that the pizza is definitely better in NY (though apparently not all it's hyped up to be!).
